Reports: Writing to Inform

Dedicated to my Dad

Our second grade class has been studying the human body. We each chose one or two body parts to write a report on. I chose the arteries. First, I will explain how the body part works.  Then, I will teach how to keep the body part healthy.

First, how do arteries work?  Arteries carry blood away from the heart. The arteries are tubes. The arteries carry oxygen to all parts of the body. First, the heart sends blood to the aorta, a big Red tube, and there the big Red tube carries oxygen to even smaller arteries. The oxygen goes everywhere in your body. I think the arteries are amazing because the blood goes through your body then back to your heart.

Now, how can you keep your arteries healthy?  Always eat healthy food to keep healthy. Do not drink soda cause its bad for your body. Run, walk, ride a bike everyday. I realized that if you eat junk food you will not be healthy because the fat will go in your tubes.

First,  I explained how the arteries work. And then I taught how to keep your arteries healthy.  Now that I know how to keep my arteries healthy I will exercise and not eat fatty foods because I will have a heart attack.  I think you should not eat fatty foods because your arteries will get clogged and you will have a heart attack.
