Reports: Writing to Informs

Dedicated to my Dad

Our second grade class has been studying the human body. We each chose one or two body parts to write a report on. I chose the nerves and spinal cord which is part of the nervous system.  First, I will explain how the nerves and spinal cord work. Then I will teach how to keep the body parts healthy.

First, how do the nerves and spinal cord?  The spinal cord and nerves make the nervous system signals travel quickly from one nerve cell to another. The brain is connected to the spinal cord. Nerves branch out from the brain and the spinal cord.  The nervous system carries messages called signals to tell the body what to do.  Many signals start in the brain. The signals travel from the brain to other parts of the body.  I think the nerves are amazing because message can go through.

Now, how can you keep your nerves and spinal cord healthy? When you’re out roller- skating or bike riding, wear a helmet. Healthy food is good for your brain and spinal cord and nerves.  Make sure you don’t fall down from anything. If the spinal cord is damaged in an accident, signals cannot travel between the brain and the spinal cord and the nerves. I realize that when you go roller-skating, wear a helmet and don’t do tricks because you can break your spinal cord.

First, I explained how the nerves and spinal cord work and then I taught how to keep our nerves and spinal cord healthy.  Now that I know how to keep my nerves and spinal cord healthy, I will eat healthy food and not do tricks because I could break my spinal cord.  I think everyone should not do dangerous tricks on any thing dangerous or you could break your spinal cord.
